What is laser cutting?
A wide variety of laser cutting systems are available on the market today. The Bystronic/IPG laser features a 10KW laser source that emits a beam, which travels via a fibre optic cable to the cutting head. Once there, the beam is concentrated through a sophisticated arrangement of optics within the head. The beam is precisely calibrated for each specific type and thickness of material.

The laser employs high pressure nitrogen gas to propel the molten metal through the cut. The laser head is manoeuvred around the raw material with a system of linear drives. The energy supplied by the fiber source and the location of the cutting head are regulated by the nested profiles generated by CAD.
